1907 - 1919

The Early Years

In 1907, Port Arthur High School fielded its first football team.  The team would be known as the "Yellow Jackets" and its colors would be "Maroon and Gold".  Youthful school boys would flock in great numbers to try out for the team.  Some would find their way across Sabine Lake in row boats from their homes in Cameron Parish, Louisiana to come to Port Arthur and play for the "Jackets".
